NSFC Introduction

• The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) was established on February 14, 1986, with the approval of the State Council of China.

  
  

  As the main funding source for basic research in China, NSFC has developed a review system guided by the principles of reliance on experts, collective decision, merit-based selection, fairness and appropriateness to select the best proposals for funding.

  
  

  NSFC has contributed to the enhancement of China’s innovative capability and social and economic development by supporting basic research, talent training and research infrastructure while equally emphasizing international cooperation and interdisciplinary research.
