On June 21th, the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion held the 15th-anniversary ceremony of Lindau Program and Young Scientist Forum in Physiological / Medical Research in Beijing. Prof. Xie Xincheng , academician of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and Vice President of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), attended the forum and delivered a speech as Chinese-side representative. Prof. Klaus Larres, Counsellor and Senior Policy Adviser of German Embassy in China made a welcome address as German-side representative. Afterwards, Prof. Zhang Xiaoqing , Tongji University gave a keynote speech as representative of Lindau alumni. More than 140 representatives from NSFC, German Research Foundation (DFG), German Embassy in China, European Research Council (ERC), other European institutions in China and alumni of Lindau Program in physiological and medical research participated in the commemorative ceremony.
The high-level Dialogue and Discussion session about institutional and individual strategies for the professional development of young scientists was moderated by Prof. Xie Xincheng and Head of International Collaboration of DFG Dr. Jörg Schneider. Distinguished guests including Academician of CAS Xu Zhihong , Academician of CAS Zhu Zuoyan of Peking University, Academician of CAS Yang Wei of Zhejiang University, Prof. Zhang Xiaoqing of Tongji University, President of ERC Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, Prof. Klaus Larres from German Embassy and Dr. Annalise Mason of Justus-Liebig University, shared their understanding and experience about young scientists’ career possibilities and other issue of common concern with Lindau Program alumni and other representatives. At the certificate issuing activity followed by, Prof. Xie Xincheng issued certificates for the 30 excellent PhD candidates chosen to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2018 as Chinese representatives and posed for a group photo with them. Deputy Director General of the Bureau of International Cooperation, NSFC, Zou Liyao made a training report for those promising young scientists before they left for Lindau Conference 2018.
At the Young Scientist Forum held in the afternoon, 17 Lindau alumni from eleven universities like Peking University, Fudan University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University, Xiamen University and Chinese Academy of Sciences gave their thematic reports about their own experiences on scientific research as well as international cooperation, and discussed with other Lindau Program alumni.
To make the anniversary commemorative ceremony even more vivid, the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion also held a photo exhibition on excellent moments during Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and Post-Lindau Visit during the past 15 years in the entrance hall of the Sino-German Center.
